Our organically grown wheatgrass juice comes packaged in the ice cube bag pictured to the right.  We call this bag a "sheet" of juice and it gives the juice several key properties:
  • The juice bag is vacuum packed, eliminating air exposure
  • The sheet is thin which enhances the flash freezing process
  • It divides the juice into 0.5 fl. oz. portions for easy serving
  • The surface area of each cube is large so the juice thaws quickly
The package itself is designed to deliver the most nutritious product possible.  Packaging comes in thousands of different varieties.  The better and more expensive packaging is always characterized by one thing, the level of "barrier protection" against air.  Most packaging used in food production is inexpensive, porous and although leak proof, is breathable and freely penetrated by air.  These package types will result in oxidized and degraded juice; however, the juice is fully protected in our packaging.

Juice Preparation Video
To use our frozen wheat grass juice:
  • Take a juice package out of the freezer and leave it on the counter for 1 minute.
  • Follow the instructions on the back of the label which show you how to break apart the cubes by twisting the package.
  • Cut the top of the bag with scissors.
  • Add the desired number of cubes (0.5 fl. oz each) to a glass.
  • Add at least 3 x more water than juice (room temperature, non-chlorinated water preferred)
  • Stir to thaw and drink it as it thaws.
  • To speed the melt, simply use more water.
Please avoid using heating, hot water or microwaves to speed the melt. Heating the wheat grass juice destroys the vitamins and enzymes and compromises its living qualities.

Wheatgrass juice can taste great:

Some avoid wheatgrass juice because they are worried about the taste.  Don't worry, you will really enjoy our wheatgrass juice (especially if you have tried it somewhere else before) and just need to know that:
  • High quality juice = good tasting juice
  • Our juice is superb and this makes an enormous difference in how much you will enjoy drinking it.  The key is outdoor growth which produces a clean wheatgrass juice that tastes good and is very energizing.  The taste is best described as neutral and unfamiliar but not unpleasant.  When wheatgrass is grown in trays, it frequently has mold issues (more here) and can taste very bitter and make people feel poorly after drinking it.  Just get our juice to avoid this issue.
How do we drink it?
  • Most often, we add water alone just as you see in the video.  We enjoy it this way, it helps us hydrate and this method has produced powerful results for people.  We definitely recommend this method and know that this is a very effective way to drink your juice.
Still apprehensive and wish it could be even tastier (or more kid friendly), here are some ideas:

Water Add Stevia Or Agave Orange Juice Smoothie
  • You are already adding at least 3 times more water than juice.
  • Adding even more water will speed the thaw and further smooth out the taste of the juice.
  • Experiment with different amounts to get your perfect ratio.
  • Stevia (a sweet herb) or agave (a sweet plant syrup) both complement the taste of wheatgrass and either can soften the taste of the juice.
  • Prepare your juice by adding 3 times more water than juice as shown in the video.  You can then add a little bit of stevia or agave to taste
  • Stevia is a herbal and does not contain any sugars such as glucose, fructose, etc.  Agave is a syrup that is low on the glycemic scale but very high in fructose. Stevia is better for you and is  preferred.  Agave tastes better but has high fructose.  Regardless, both are quite effective.
  • Citrus juices disguise the taste of wheatgrass juice making it difficult to taste at all
  • Instead of adding water to speed the thaw, use orange juice
  • Just keep in mind that the colder the orange juice, the slower the wheatgrass cubes will thaw
  • Also keep in mind that fresh orange juice (unpasteurized) is much better for you if available.
  • Blending the juice into a smoothie integrates the flavor into the other fruits, to make a smoothie:
  • Put 1/2 banana in your blender
  • Add 1 cup frozen fruit (mango or mixed berries are our favorites)
  • Add 1 cup water
  • Add 4 wheatgrass juice cubes (2 fl. oz.)
  • Blend
  • If too thick when blending add a little extra water, if too thin add additional frozen fruit or wheatgrass juice
  • Serve to your family and friends
The table below shows and describes our type 6 recyclable polystyrene shipping containers.  These are custom boxes designed to get the juice to you in great shape.  Inside the box, the juice is surrounded on all sides with ice packs that are more than ½" thick.  These ice packs are sacrificial and melt in advance of the juice.  This holds the cold in the box and more importantly, in the juice.  The juice should arrive in firm condition and be unpacked into your freezer promptly.  The polystyrene boxes are 100% recyclable as type 6.  At this time, most cities do not do curbside type 6 recycling.  This is coming in time and in the meantime, we encourage you to click here to find the closest polystyrene recycling hub to your home.

Cautions If receiving the box at the office, do not open it to check the contents.  This will allow the cold to escape!  Leave the box  sealed and open it only when you are able to unpack the cooler into your freezer.

  • Traditionally, it is taken on an empty stomach, at least 15 minutes before a meal.
  • The juice needs to be melted so you can drink it.  Doing this is easy.  Just add 3 parts room temperature water to the juice.  This will rapidly melt it, allow you to consume it quickly, maintain excellent nutritional density and ensure that sensitive organics like enzymes remain vital.
  • There is no limit to how much juice you can use, just guidelines that have been established over time.
  • Trust your instincts and observations as you may find that you prefer more or less.

  • On rare occasions, more juice may be needed. For the most part, we believe that 10 fl. ozs. is the point of diminishing return (you stop getting value for your money). We believe additional funds beyond this are better spent on life balance. This means things sleep, hydration, stress reduction, light exercise, meditation, food items like great organic produce, buying a juicer, taking a vacation or simply having a day at the spa.
How Much Do We Drink? We have many family members that use the juice as part of a daily routine:
  • The adults drink 5 fl. oz. per day maintenance
  • The children are presented with 1 fl. oz. per day and the infants with 0.5 fl. oz. per day. We encourage but as any parent can tell you, do not and could not force consumption.  The children drink about 50% of the juice presented to them.
How Much Do They Use At Raw Food Retreats And Education Centers? 4 - 12 fl. oz. per day (8 - 24 cubes per day)

People that cannot drink wheatgrass juice:
  • Sorry, but if you have a grass allergy, wheatgrass is not for you.  A grass allergy would present as stomach cramping / bloating or itchy watery eyes.  Most people with a grass allergy are well aware of it and only rarely does this come up as a surprise.
Consult your health professional if:
  • You have any questions or concerns whatsoever.
  • You are using blood thinners.  Greens foods such as broccoli, spinach and others including wheatgrass may be contra-indicated.
  • Days leading up to surgery may be tightly controlled by your physician and you should ensure that you mention that you are drinking wheatgrass juice.

How The Body Becomes Toxic

We ingest toxins everyday through many small encounters with them in our food, water and air.  The body is constantly filtering and eliminating these toxins and hopefully does so faster then they are ingested.  If not eliminated, they are stored in the body and surrounded by fat cells to help insulate them.  There are two things that cause the body to store toxins:
  • Overload - ingesting more toxins than the body can eliminate
  • Insufficient nutrition - certain nutrients are necessary for the body to naturally eliminate toxins
The cumulative load toxins place on our body is called the "body burden" and this burden is believed to lead to many ailments including hormone imbalance, impaired immune function, indigestion, bad breath, constipation, fatigue, poor skin, joint pain, muscle pain and much more.  If toxins have come to rest in a particular part of the body, they can cause ongoing inflammation which can be damaging over time.

What Detox Is

Detoxification is the process of reducing the "body burden" by eliminating toxins that have been building for years or even decades.  Wheatgrass juice contains nutrients such as chlorophyll that can cause detoxification to take place.  If your body has stored toxins, it will detox.  If there are no stored toxins you will not need to detox.

If you detox too quickly,  it is possible to have side effects that cause you to temporarily feel worse.  When toxins re-enter the bloodstream, they can trigger an immune response that is termed a "healing crisis".  This is a natural process, but can be uncomfortable and may include symptoms such as a headache (particularly for high sugar consumers), flu-like feelings, diarrhea or fatigue.   A healing crisis is not desirable and in most cases not necessary.  If you have time, start with a small amount of juice and work your way up to avoid this experience.  If detox is noticeable, recognize it as a positive sign, consider reducing your juice consumption temporarily and be confident that it will pass.  In a short period of time (1 day for some, less than 1 week for most, 1 month in rare circumstances) your body will be cleansed and you will experience the mental clarity and physical rejuvenation that comes with wheatgrass juice. 

What Detox Is Not

Wheatgrass grown in trays has mold issues.  Many drinking this juice have experienced significant negative effects within moments of drinking the juice, including headaches, dizziness, nausea and sometimes purging.  These effects have been widely mis-reported as being caused by the strong detoxifying effects of the juice.  This is not detox, this is an allergic reaction caused by mycotoxins released by the mold.  Mycotoxins are unusual in that reactions range widely from person to person.  It is common for one drinker to feel fine while the other is quite negatively affected.  This will not happen with our juice because the wheatgrass is field grown and as a result, the juice contains no detectable molds or mycotoxins.  If you have tried wheatgrass in the past and found it undrinkable, try ours, you will love it.

Our experience has taught us to be good observers and encourage others to do the same because the benefits of nutrition can be many and vary from person to person.

The best approach is to create a check point for yourself before beginning the juice.  Make a note of how you are performing and feeling.  Most people report many small improvements that cumulatively result in much better performance both physically and mentally.  You should use the juice for about 1 month and then revisit your checkpoint.  We trust that the changes you see will be significant and readily apparent.
