alpha-linolenic-acidEssential Fatty Acids are taken up by cells, where they serve as precursors in the synthesis of other compounds, most notably certain vitamins. Acts as fuel for energy production and as substrates for ketone body synthesis.

Linolenic Acid (Essential)

Linolenic Acid or ALA is an essential fatty acid, which means that it is essential to human health, but cannot be manufactured by the body. For this reason ALA must be obtained from food. ALA belongs to a group of fatty acids that are called Omega 3 Fatty Acids. Once ingested, the body converts ALA to EPA and DHA, the two types of Omega 3 Fatty Acid that are more readily used by the body. Omega 3 fatty acids have been shown to reduce inflammation. These essential fatty acids are highly concentrated in the brain and are particularly important for cognitive and behavioral function.

Linoleic Acid

Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA) is polyunsaturated Fatty Acid similar in structure to Linolenic Acid. It helps enhance immune response and has positive effects on lean muscle mass.
